If you had seen me as a child at bedtime, you'd probably have buried your face in your hands.

Every night was the same. Tears. Frustration.
Meltdowns that seemed to come out of nowhere. My mum tried everything—reading me stories, warm milk, night lights but nothing worked.

Did I mention the nightmares? I always had the same one.

And then one evening, something changed.

My nanny walked into my room with my favorite plushie.

She held it close to my face, and I caught a soft, sweet scent of vanilla.

She had put just a few drops of vanilla essence on its nose.

I didn’t know why, but I felt… calm. Safe. Understood maybe? I am not sure.. but I remember that warm feeling to this day!

I snuggled my plushie, and breathed in the gentle scent of Vanilla. And for the first time in what felt like forever, I drifted to sleep peacefully.

A few drops of scent, a cuddle, and bedtime became something I could look forward to. That tiny ritual became our secret.

25 years later, that memory came rushing back to me.

I thought about how many kids still face the same struggles I did. The meltdowns. The restless nights. The exhausting battles that leave everyone drained.

And I wondered: What if I could take that small ritual from my childhood, and make it available to kids and their parents confronted with big emotions?

So I started experimenting. I wanted to create something that would hold a comforting scent for months instead of hours (1), was dry to the touch, safe for kids’ skin, and wouldn’t stain the plushie (2) & wasn’t just a plushie, but a companion, a story & a ritual.

It was just an idea... but when I launched on Kickstarter, something amazing happened...

Thousands of parents, grandparents & plushie fans joined the calling. They gave feedback. Shared their stories. Hundreds of plushies were preordered & patiently waited for... And together we refined every detail.

Today, Moodlemates aren’t just plushies. They are a ritual for young families like yours. A companion for your kids...
